hi, am new here. just been to look at a dark blue X reg (2000) CLK 320 with 79k on clock with full merc service history, private sale.
bloke had owned it 5 years from nearly new. service history was stamped up and it hadnt missed any. i drove it and it drove fine etc. the owner was quite a posh bloke.
downsides were there was small stone chips on the front bumper, which had a lighter blue colour underneath as if it had had a light blue front bumper fitted and then sprayed over in dark blue. i asked if it had had a new front bumper, he said no not that he knew of. maybe the primer underneath on a dark blue merc is light blue? it might have just had somebody stuff the front bumper in a car park and had one replaced so could be innocent.
he said the car had been parked up a few months since he got his new car, i noticed some mayonnaise in oil cap so maybe this is cos its just been stood about?
other thing was the steering wheel was very mucky and looked kinda worn, but the muck probaly made it look worse than it was. are merc leather wheels known for wearing prematurely?
if these items arent to worry about, i will get a HPI check and a mechanic to check it over etc.
