hi guys

i currently own a 2003 C220cdi classic (manual) and have done for around 4 months now - really beginning to enjoy ownership of my first mercedes after being a bmw owner before.

I bought the vehicle 2nd hand from a lady owner - unfortunately due to her very long nails the leather around the gear stick has become very tatty (probably done due to gear changes during her 3 years of ownership).

I have tried putting some black matt paint on the leather to tidy it up but i am not very happy with the final result tbh and would like the replace the gearstick and leather.

can anyone please divert me to the right place in order to purchase apart from the dealer network (i know that will be pretty pricey). also does anyone have a fair idea how much it will cost to replace? it would need to be black in colour of course and is a six speed manual box.

thanks for your help

Why not re cover your existing knob, they are on Ebay quite cheap.

It depends on your mind, mine is pure

If you take a piece of leather, you whack it with a wooden mallet over a dolly and it can be shaped into a ball.

No comments please over the dolly bit:D

profane jokes aside :D

the leather attached to the gear knob does not seem to be able to come apart? its just the way in which the leather is kind of underneath it so as to give an impression of it being one piece? (probably the way it is with the classic version ie cheaper type?)

i was thinking of getting a nice gearknob for the car anyway (something with more leather on than the one i currently have as it isnt very comfortable in any event to use)

if someone can point me in the right direction i would very much appreciate it.

thanks
