In the process of maybe buying a 19 plate a200 prem trim at the mo but i noticed what looks like mould in the boot carpet on the left hand side. Is this a known problem with the w177 A class. Going to look at it again tomorrow and will upload a pic lol

Lift the carpet and look for signs of water ingress - iirc there is a problem on these models with rainwater entering the boot through the vents behind the rear bumper.

That was on the previous W176 model that was replaced in 2018 with the W177 which is what the OP is looking at - I’ve not seen any water leak threads on the W177

Guess the OP succumbed to mould infestation

Which just goes to show that a bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing:D.

The mould could easily be a simple thing such as condensation from the vehicle being left standing in very cold weather or a wet umbrella etc being left in the boot. The dealer wiping the mould away before being viewed and the Op would have been none the wiser!

Nope still here. Turned out not to be mould was just dusty looking mould, it wiped away easily enough. So I did get the car but noticed a week later that the rear screen wash wasnt working and as I was pushing the button noticed that water was shooting out through the trim carpet on the side of the accelorator peddle from the drivers footwell. So took it to a local MB specialist and they said it needed a new pipe for the screen wash and the whole of that side of the car behind the trim was soaking!!!!

So now going to try and claim the cost back from the 3 month warrenty i got from the garage where i purchased the car!!!!
