Hope i am not repeating myself but the topic I posted has disappeared of the list!

My 1990 230TE is leaking coolant into the passenger compartment. Both front and rear and both side footwells are full of water and I am loosing coolant at about 1 litre a day!

Has the matrix gone or has anyone had a similar problem and found a simple solution. I assume the dash needs to come out to get at the heater matrix. I have checked all the hoses I can find and been unable to locate any leaks.

Help please.

sounds very much like the matrix to me . Having all that water in the footwells says it only comes from the matrix unless you wash the car with all windows open . :?

Thanks for that JR. How long did it take to replace? I assume I can put a hose across the flow and return in the engine bay to cut out the matrix to confirm that this is the source of the leak though it's ****** cold at the minute to have no heat :(
