Lost power to passenger door...W215.

2005 CL500.
So, I have lost power to my passenger door. I cannot open the window, and it does not drop when the door is opened. The indicator in the mirror does not work and the mirror itself does not operate. The door will lock/unlock because it is vacuum operated. The speakers also work because they are not powered.

I would add that this happened one day last week. I lost the same at the start of a 16 mile journey...but all was restored by the end of the run.

Suggestions would be welcome.

I'd start with the cables going through the hinge to the door - any breaks?

Having fixed this problem on the driver’s door of my 215 I can tell you the procedure is:

Drop the door card off (multiple torx bolts and be VERY careful to lift it up before pulling off).

Unplug the door control module, take photos on your phone first so you know which plug goes where!

Carefully remove the wiring harness out of the door, each thread needs pulling out on its own.

You’ll end up with a mass of multicoloured spaghetti spilling out of the body side of the car. Ensure the door is wide open btw.

Get a spring clamp and pull the harness as far out of the body side as possible, then clamp it there.

Unravel or carefully cut and peel back the black outer sheath of the harness. Inspect each wire for breaks. They will most likely be highly evident, the broken power lead on mine was snapped completely through. A 20 gauge red wire from memory.

Ensure you have replacement wire to hand, solder and a big enough soldering iron. The power lead will suck the heat out of an electronics iron quicker than it can supply it so you may have to pre-tin the ends of the replacement wire segment first.

Make your repair and heat shrink it thoroughly. Cover it back in the black outer sheath.

“Reassembly is the reverse of the above instructions”…

I use a gas iron for jobs like this as it gives the required heat for a good flow.
Some heat shrink is also useful - just remember to fit it onto the wire before you make the joint…;):rolleyes:

I use a gas iron for jobs like this as it gives the required heat for a good flow.
Some heat shrink is also useful - just remember to fit it onto the wire before you make the joint…;):rolleyes:
Haahhh yes I could just imagine some numpty forgetting that and having to desolder the previous 20 mins work… it wasn’t me ‘onest guv!
