Lost power won’t go past 3000rpm

Good evening all.

I have a Mercedes E220 W213 and today I accelerated only for the car to just suddenly stop pulling around 30 mph. On idle if I press the accelerator it won’t go past 3000rpm and it sounds like a tractor starting up now..

I’ve attached 2 files for what my Icarsoft found.

Is the fault found describe the issue that I’m having? Is this an easy simple fix?

Typical when I need the car too!

Awaiting RAC help. Although will probably need a garage :(

New MAF needed. Usually easy to fit as on the inlet pipe. Pick Bosch or MB genuine.
On petrol vehicles disconnecting the MAF can usually get the car to run on default map, not sure about a diesel though.
I'd be concerned about 3000rpm if the vehicle was moving and in gear, but not if stationary and in neutral as many vehicles have a rev. limiter in that situation.

Yes , I'd be running another scan. Don't think a maf would throw limp mode tbh. Some errors piggy back from other issues.

When I bought my S203 C270Cdi it took a while to realise it would not rev past 3k as I'm a gentle driver and in that car in top 3k is north of the speed limit. Thankfully it came with a warranty, the problem was the MAF, once that was replaced (at no cost to me thankfully) the problem had gone.

morning all…

Well, after sorting loads of stuff out and moving the car was sitting stationary for a long time.
Turned out the major cause was the shaft had broke in the turbo. Took ages to diagnose as the system was throwing up the MAF sensor. The MAF Sensor was replaced and still the same fault. Lots of carbon built up and the (I think) EGR was full of crap so that had to be replaced. Literally crap everywhere within the pipe work. It’s still currently under investigation. The turbo hadn’t broken up so nothing had gone into the engine or DPF, although it’s now going to get chemically cleaned. Lots of oil in the turbo which has gone into the DPF. It’s turning into a nightmare. Such a lovely hi-spec car too!

These often throw maf faults when the numbers don't make sense. EG with an inlet blocked or turbo not making any boost. Car is expecting a certain air mass and not seeing it, so throws a MAF fault. The hint is "Mass or Volume airflow"

Of course, if you’re in the know, you know where to look. My mate who is a Mercedes expert is doing all the work for me so will hopefully have the car up and running soon with not to much of an expense either! (Fingers crossed he says!)
