Hi all
had a strange experience with my 2005 270clk CDI.Whilst overtaking a slow moving car on a straight piece of road ,kicked it down accelerated quite quickly and then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree lost power and engine stalled .Dropped back and pulled over with no engine running ,turned it off turned on and started immediately but EML on .
Car in limp mode but drove ok but no turbo.
4 starts later light out and drives normally for another week until fast motorway run and EML pops on again.
Took it to my local garage (that services quite a few MB taxis) and it came up with Low rail pressure fault . They changed the fuel filter which was only 3 months old and told me to try it for a few days .It seems to run much better and no more EML despite giving it a fast run and hard acceleration a few times .The filter change seems to have cured the problem .Thought I would share this as it may help someone else with a similar fault .The previous day to the problem I did fill up with diesel and wonder if it was a dirty batch . Just glad it was a cheap fix .

Dirty diesel does happen. It's actually a bacterial ' infection' and can affect an entire fuel station tank. Clogs filters, reduces demand pressure etc. Doesn't happen that often. And doesn't usually follow any pattern. Would be good to run your tank to pretty much empty and refill at a different station!
