my wheels are sticking out by 3-4mm like them european tuner style as I hav to use a 10mm spacer on 8.5" wheels. Can I still lower my car by any chance as the ride is very wobly at the moment. Not very confident on the motorway

yes you can lower it by a variety of means. The problem is catching the bodywork, wheelarches, suspension arms etc but given that having tyres that exceed the bodywork is illegal in the UK, you need to attend to this anyway before you get pulled and done for construction and use offences. It will fail an MOT in any case.

depends on your perception of 'cool'!
Mine are on the border so from some angles they look to step out, but the overall width is still within the arches.
Anyway, the law is the law and as far as I know, it's illegal.
Could be wrong though.

If you've got wobbling problems on the motorway, lowering the car won't fix it.

Make sure they are not too offset. An imaginary line drawn through the top and bottom steering joints should hit the road roughly in the centre of the tyre. If it doesn't, you'll need to change rims, remove the spacer or put a bigger spacer in. If not, you'll have handling problems.

Also re-check all the tyre balances.
