No reason why you shouldn't. I did it to a 4.0 ltr jag and am thinking of doing it to my 1992 300SL. Only worth it if you are doing at least 10K per year. Costs in the region of £1500, will lose about 10% economy amd some boot space. Shop around and get some references about the garage.

I suggest something like at least an 80 litre tank which can be filled to about 80%. Consider replacing the spare wheel with the tank if you wish to keep more space-don't know how frequently you get flat tyres. Remember the AA will not help with a flat unless you have a serviceable spare!

Needs servicing every 10K or so. Systems have dramatically improved in recent years.
Make sure you get the relevant certificate or your insurance company may not be too happy
