lpg - converting 500se 1983

any advice on converting this old 500se to lpg will it work what about valves do they need changing ?

I know somebody who has converted a 500se to lpg and you can say goodbye to any useful boot space!

I do not think he had to have any engine work done. Expensive job though, around £800-£2000 from what I gather.

I cannot comment on Mercedes, but I have run up 80k miles in a converted Mitsubishi Galant V6 over the past two years. In general what problems I've had have been more than compensated by the savings in fuel.

The biggest single problem I face is the unreliability of BP's LPG pumps (they are by far the biggest supplier where I live). I would suggest you check there are two - three stations selling the stuff in reasonable reach before commiting.
