Hello out there
what is the opinion of group on all the different replacements for lead in fuel, specifically anybody heard of 'The Broquet ' solution to this problem? www.broquet.co.uk
Would this be viable in all earlier MB's in the transition from 4 star,to that nice green stuff, their site makes some pretty impressive claims  My opinion was asked for a 1980 500se,as this mans local garage has his last Lead replacement delivered. But having just replaced a burnt valve in my 300e :( could the cost of this be regained by difference even between super and regular unleaded?

HI Gegit
As I run a MB200/124, 1988 vintage, I have often wonderd about the claims made by BROQUET, Its a lot of cash to lay out if it does'nt work !, I have never met anybody who can verify these claims.
However, using straight UNLEADED my fuel consumption was 300 m for every full tank. not very good !!!
So when my local Forecourt stopped stocking LRP ( which I always use when towing my Caravan) I purchased a bottle of CASTROL VALVEMASTER PLUS from Halfords & popped it into the tank along with my usual dose of REDEX , & the last two tank fulls have returned 400m!!
I would say thats quite an impressive improvement, eh?
Let me know if you decide on using BROQUET.
Regards, Barnie

Hi, Barnie,
thanks for reply, fuel consumption figures are interesting.I have checked all reports in a search on group all with different ideas on this problem, basically I am very sceptical that a few lead balls in the bottom of your tank will do any good  I priced up additive through trade counter 50ltr treatment =£2.50 (comma) Broquet =£72.85 but alledgedly 100,000 mls + (50ltr don't go far  )My 300te should i'm told run on unleaded,as a precaution i feed it super unleaded, but the difference in cost would still be more than the £80.00 for 100,000 mls.I am also a engineer so remember over the years numerous fixes, has no one on this site used them?
