Can anyone recommend the best thing to use for lubricating throttle linkages and the accelerator cable?

I'm assuming WD40 is not the solution for this.

Car is a 1994 E220.
Thanks.

WD40 is not a lubricant, Silicon or PTFE is and work very well in cable as they never dry, and clean to use. PTFE from a woodworking tool shop.
