Looking at one of the US sites I noticed that the MAF contains a potentiometer. Is this a replacable part. Does it mean that the sensor is adjustable?

The MAF is a potentiometer. The meter itselt is held on the body with two screws. Im not sure if you can buy the meter only, but its not adjustable. Hope this helps;)

MAF Adjustment

I think the MAF consists of at least two parts - the potentiometer and the sensor. The potentiometer must be there to calibrate the sensor so must be adjustable, if only at the factory.

Hi Alan, the times in my life where a guy has seen a little screw and fiddled, completely upsetting or destroying other components in the process.

Going to be interesting from now on as someone will have a twidle, they always do when they see an adjustment pot

Thanks Malcolm, I think jberks is right - it's probably the sensor that goes rather than the pot. Best left alone I think...

Interesting though!

Back in my R/O days I always tuned for maximum smoke :) The neon hanging off the Ae system made it easy.

Could you say that again in English, Russell, for those of us who are not up on the jargon.

Sorry, when I was a Radio Officer I would tune the transmitters for maximum output. Hanging a small neon light off the Antenna System ensures that you get a good match - therefore Maximum Smoke :)
