MAF: ebay or mercedes?

Hi ,

I reliably informed that the annoying light on my dashboard means my air mass sensor is dead , my mpg and wandering idle revs testify to this.

The number on the sensor is 111 094 01 48 and my car is a 2001 c200k coupe.

Here's the question:

Ebay £35.00
Mercedes price £276.00

I ve heard that non MB sensors can be rubbish and best just to bite the bullet, any one agree?

Hello and welcome,, the MAF seldom puts the engine lamp on,,the 02 sensor will

MAF's are cheapest from any Bosch service center at £147

Sorry ? You doubt the garages diagnossis that its the MAF and rekon its the 02 sensor?

The only symptoms are that the mpg is rubbish , initial idle is eratic and the mpgs around 20

I can see that an 02 sensor could also be to blame, any (cheap) way to find out whats at fault?

If the 02 sensor is at fault it can alter the mixture, and thats its job, and it does so within a certain range, once it goes outside of range it can store a fault putting on the lamp.

The MAF could be so bad that its making this happen, you could unplug the MAF and try the car to see what difference if makes

You have to ask if the garage diagnosed the problem with a star diagnostic machine, some of the other makes wont always come up with the proper codes..
