Hi, can anyone tell me why we are calling the Mass sensor Maf on most of these forums, I have only ever heard it called Maf in the states or on these forums, I hope its not an agreement between Bush & Blair. John

The correct term is mass air flow sensor, make what you will of the abbreviations that are around, so long as we all think we know what we're talking about no problems ;) Perhaps it's to do with how much "Bush" we're smoking or how much "Blair" your motors breathing

I must admit, I've always known it as "air mass meter".

I guess MAF is Mass AirFlow (sensor) whereas MAS is Mass Airflow Sensor
and I agree with type49 - its an air mass meter!

In the Haynes for my model which covers C180 to C250 both petrol and diesel 1993 -2000
In the petrol it is described as Air Mass Meter
In the diesel Air Flow Meter.

Oh and in the VD clinic it is the ClapoMeter
You should be careful of the umbrella when visiting such establishments

The one at our local hospital is a seperate building away from the main hospital, just off the car park.
I have had many an entertaining wait, whilst taking relations to the hospital, watching the people walking along and if someones coming, walking past the entrance. Then slowly sauntering back, then jumping through the doors. :)
