I will do a paper soon on the different types of MAF filters as other methods can be used. it depends on the filter type.

where can i get some of this isopropyl alcohol though?

I can of lighter fuel (refined petrol) will leave no residue and will not harm it.

The US site has a thread going on this topic. Several contributors recommend a proprietary spray called CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. It contains a blend of hexane isomers and seems to be highly rated by users. I am not sure if it is available in this country but can be ordered from midwayautosupply.com in the US.
