Will the electro magnetic radiator cooling fan still function with cracks in it?

Yes but in reality will likely need replacing sooner rather than later due to the speed in which it runs, it could let go and damage other parts when it does

Thank you. I'm having great trouble sourcing a new one. Very limited suppliers and not getting any feedback from them

I have fitted A NEW radiator. NEW temperature sensor. NEW serpentine belt. Flushed out the cooling system. Re- filled the cooling system (50/50 mix) .bridged the sensor switch for the fan. ALL to no avail. The fan still doesn't ' kick in' at high temperature. What else can i do?.

What car is it the you have? Please post up the first 6 letters/digits of the VIN e.g. WDD210, which indicates a W210.
Have you checked that the fan is actually working e.g. applying 12V to it directly?
Some cars have an additional fan control unit that can fail.

WDB2010242. I have not tried applying 12 v directly. I've only tried bridging the wires at the temperature sender. Don't know of any additional fan controls.

I might be wrong, but I think that your car probably has a viscous coupled cooling fan for the engine and an electric auxiliary fan for the air conditioning.
If so I wouldn't expect the electric fan to come on just based upon engine temperature.
I would try applying 12V to it directly to ensure that it works.
Also is it a single fan or a dual fan where one is powered and the other driven by a belt from the first?

No air con. Not a viscous fan but a magneto fan. Only one fan works off the auxiliary belt and supposed to ' lock on ' once it reaches 102c.thankyou.

Okay. From what I can gather, the electromagnetic clutch should cut in at about 102 Centigrade. On a UK spec. car without air conditioning, the fan has no relay, the positive being supplied from fuse 10 (?) through the temperature sender to the clutch solenoid. The solenoid is permanently earthed.

If you supply power to the clutch you should hear a light click as the solenoid engages, if not you will likely need to replace it.
Try continuity testing the wiring first, then look at replacing the fan clutch.
There are videos online to show you how to remove the fan and magnetic clutch.
A quick search online reveals a well known auction site has fans and clutches listed as suitable for your vehicle, both used and new.
Here's a link to a magnetic clutch ( click here ) once you've removed the fan blades you should be able to tell if its correct or not.

Thank you for all the information. I have no trouble sourcing a new magnetic clutch. Just that companies are reluctant to confirm suitability for my car?? . I will check the fuse. Thank you again.

Number 10 fuse looks good. When i try to order the fan clutch, everyone ( those that eventually reply! ). Says my car is a 2.3 . it's actually a 2 litre. Why is this?
