Please can anyone advise if it is possible to change the Main Battery (Mercedes 250 GLE Diesel 4 Matic) yourself. This 'main battery' appears to be located behind the Drivers Seat and not readily accessible (is it changed from underneath?) and I realise it needs to be coded to the car.

Any advise greatly appreciated as Main Dealers are suggesting circa £500 + (labour, coding and supplying the replacement battery).

Thanks all

On a different car, but I changed the battery on my R Class, which lives in the same place, with no problems. The carpet needed to be cut a little to remove the old battery, but that was it. In theory, all the connections to the seat could have been left connected, but I chose to disconnect which meant having to turn the SRS warning off.
Does the battery need coding? I really don't know ... ????

Thanks that is useful. The battery change looks tight access and not sure yet whether their is sufficient clearance with the seat fully motored forward and so will try that first. Re Battery Coding; that is what my Trade Supplier (of the Battery) informs me. Recently changed the Battery in my Wifes Fiat and that needed 'coding' to the car, but with the help of the Fiat Forum it was not very difficult.
