Has anyone else had a letter from their dealer putting them on the platinum 100 scheme?

The automatic entry into the club offers me,
Labour rate of £40 + Vat for all work completed
Service A for £170 inc
Service B for £280inc
Half price MOT
10% discount on all parts.

Car is 2000 320cdi.

Needless to say I have taken advantage and the car is in at the moment having the auxiliary heater fixed.

BTW-The parts department only offered 7% trade discount last week on the same parts.

My dealer, MB Chester, part of the Inchcape group, has been advertising A service on most models for £199 and B's for £299 for at least a couple of years, and it's not age restricted.
They do offer discounted labour rates etc on older cars.

To be honest, I'm ever cynical about everything dealers do *especially* discounted MOT's. They just seem to to be ways to hook you in and then they can load on other work.

Was this at the main dealer at Cribbs Causeway

The letter came from Weston, I called and asked if I could use this at Cribbs, yes.
£40 per hour is cheaper than an indy.

BTW- They quoted 1.5 hours labour, I said that's too much so they agreed one hour. Are times that tough?

All dealers are offering different deals at the moment so it depends on who you go to.
The offer at mine is worded differently (3 years and older discounts of 40% on servicing etc) but it works out similar in the end.
The indies + block exemption + recession are clearly doing them some damage!

I was discussing with my Dad last night, where mums 5 yr old smart should go. In the old days it would be a no brainer - indie. However, he is considering using the dealer and it's now loyalty to the indie rather than cost that is likely to swing the decision.

Mine always seems deserted, yet they consistently fail to call me back. I called on Monday to remind them they owed me a response (which could result in work for them) of something that came up on my MOT and they said they'd call back - still haven't.
