Hi all,
I have 2 questions that I hope someone can help me with as I have just bought a C220 2000Yr V reg.
1) Does the main lightswitch hace a backlight, if so how do I get at it? the centre orange lightfor the foclamps work but when it is dark I can't see any of the marking positions for the lights,
2) Round my front windscreen there is a black spotted border is this for any particular reason ie some form of heating or defrosting or just cosmectic.

Hope someone out there can give me some advice, it will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mick Morris

1) No backlight
2) Just cosmetic

lightswitch backlight on W202 C220

Thanks Blobcat, It the first car I've seen that the light selector switch doesn't light up I wonder why they did that it's a bit of a fumble in the dark and it looks a bit odd cosmetically. Still I suppose they did it for a reason (Can't think what).
Thanks again for answering,
Mick.

Same on the SL but to be truthful you cant forget where it is, being next to the key + you turn the lights on before it gets dark and you do not need it anymore until the gong tells you to turn them off as you open the door, you can see it then.

All of these things add up. Switches with illumination cost at least 50p, so that all helps in keeping down the new price.

No code or wiring needed for this as the lighting cables go into the switch anyway.. on average there is a 50p difference in the cost of an illuminated switch (led) over a non illuminated one.

Perhaps they should have the steering wheel and pedals backlit as well, or am I being facetious? probably. ;)

Since most of the newer MB's have auto lights the switch doesn't even need to be touched.

Your SL should be lit Malc. The knob itself is lit but not the surround or "picture" bit.
