Hi Guys,
I have been driven my E300 for about 5 years, 75,000 miles. Some time ago I could listen to the noisy starter when motor was engaging from hybrid drive and i thought this will have to be replaced soon (not hearing it anymore).
Now I need to press sport button to engage motor only, and of course like many of your posts here if I start normal soon as battery start to run low i have malfunction notice on the board and i have to park the vehicle and restart the engine so I can start with sport mode.
I have taken to Mercedes-Benz garage and they told me that it may be the alternator regulator (crazy pricing) but they cannot guarantee me that will be the only problem. I still think it is the motor starter and need to be replaced but they told me that they need to change regulator first so they can see the rest after. However, i have checked the regulator with another garage and it charges both batteries without any problem, I can also see on the board that my hybrid battery is charging when i break so the electricity power looks ok.
Does anyone has resolved this problem?
Thanks

Malfunction. ( translated from benzlingo ) term designed to sent you off on a wallet shrinkin trip to the stealers, often without a happy ending, for you ,anyway.you will be able to find a decent indy on here.good luck.

Problem with this technology is its still relatively new to be readily diagnosed. IMHO an indy may br non the wiser than MB. At least with MB you can say look it wasn't the regulator I am not paying for that and get a slightly better redress. Then again depends on the MB garage and a indy vis a vis.

I think we are entering a new era - hybrids or EU6 diesels can you really afford to not extend the warranty

Get you there. Think ts just better to buy a motor that does not use all this xxap rather than involve YET another expence of yet another insurance premium. Thats where I am anyway.
Lifes tough enough no interest in.being a makers canary, especially at MY expense

We do lots of hybrids and electric specific stuff. We have some exciting (or not, depending on your view) stuff in the pipeline regarding Electric vehicles and MB's.

A good indy, even one that guesses at a problem like this, will still be cheaper than a main dealer, also guessing....
