As a resident of South Manchester I think I should have my say (actually moan).

This is nothing to do with cutting congestion, this is all about taxation and Government contol. This annoucement was made as a done deal, which suggests that the Government already knows how the local authorities will vote, hardly democratic!

The outer congestion zone is bounded by the M60. This apparently makes it the largest controlled area in the World. Parts of the M60 goes through countryside, hardly inner city congestion areas, however the reason for using the M60 is well documented - it is essential to ensure that the city centre shops are not at a disadvantage compared to the shops at the Trafford Centre, the Trafford Centre is located next to the M60 in the middle of nowhere, but on the inner side of the loop so you will have to pay to visit.

Will it happen, I dont think so, their is plenty of time to get rid of the present muppets and common sense to return.

Mark.
