Manual seat height adjustment

The drivers seat on my wife's R172 SLK200 has stopped working.
It does adjust up (great for her) but I can't lower it.
Is this a known issue?
One that's easily remedied?
My impression is there may be up and down rods or cables (?) under the seat attached to the lever. Might one of them have beginner jammed?
The lever will not physically move down. Like something is stuck in the mechanism, perhaps?
But before I remove the seat to investigate I thought I should ask you.
Any ideas?

Likely to be something jammed in the mechanism - I'd lift it up and take a look underneath to see if something is there that shouldn't be

Probably a coin, a bottle lid or the like

best thing is to get your under there ans adjust the seat while watching the runners/lifters. You will soon see whats causing the issue.
