Hi everybody

My.b160 is being having issues with it's reverse light and rear parking sensor.
I have ordered a new sensor from MB to see if it solves the problem.

I roughly know the location.
Though if someone could provide a schematic that would be much appreciated.

Does anybody know if it can be done from the engine bay or would it be easier from the bottom.

Thanks

I assume it is a manual gearbox. The reversing light switch is screwed into the top of the gearbox and is accessible from the engine bay - remove the washer bottle and,air filter housing. To unscrew the switch you need a deep socket (22mm, I think, although I am away from home at the moment so I can't check) or a crow's foot socket. A normal depth socket won't do it. Also, when you remove the switch, the gearbox needs to be in reverse gear otherwise an internal component moves out of place. Access to the switch using a socket is made harder because of the control cables to the gearbox from the gearstick. It is possible to loosen off the switch (half a turn or so) with the gearbox set to a different gear for better access and then put it into reverse and unscrew it the rest of the way by hand.

Lofty's website has more information (http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/mypage.11.htm). Most of his website covers the W168 but a lot of it is also relevant to the W169/W245, including this.

Ok thanks.
Ended up finding it, didn't remove all that.
But turns out the switch Isn't bad.
It's the part inside the gearbox that's not moving anymore.

I am guessing that's a gearbox out fix.
