Hi I have a CLK 200 K timing chain issues sorted two years ago since then occasional fault code PO 600 PO 444 car won’t crank, turn ignition off ,turn ignition on sound car horn turn ignition off, turn ignition on & car starts ???
Car runs perfectly apart from this random fault.
Your thoughts appreciated Colper.

When you say won't start do you mean cranks but doesn't fire or doesn't crank?

Any oil in the connections to the cam magnets on the front of the engine buddy ?

P0600 is a Comms error so I'd guess at canbus issues.
What are you using to read codes?

Yes! oil present will clean connections. Thanks

Canbus is the communication system used between the modules. For example the engine ECU, transmission ECU, electronic gear selector, key module, dash and most other controllers in the car communicate across it. If canbus is down to the engine ECU it won't get drive authentication so won't crank.

If you can query those other modules you may see can communication errors

Thanks for the info! It’s a long way from points,plugs,& coil but I’ll give it a shot.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON , (sci fi film quote ) Oil in the cam magnet connections is now heading to the front SAM where it will create electrical havoc ! It’s an M271 thing
