My Insurance is up for renewal and my current provider whilst seeming to remain competetive are still not as cheap as I would like...Can anyone recommend any insurance companies sympathetic to MB owners? I'm sure I saw a thread about it a while ago but I can't seem to find it.

Not sure about MB sympathetic but in recent years have used Privilege, Direct Line and Admiral. All fairly competitive.

Always worth running your details thru confused.com and other comparison sites.

I got mine with IAM for £249.50 for my 2008 C220 CDI Sport. Fully comp, some business miles and with the girlfriend as a named driver

I thought that insurance discounts were offered to MBO club members? Is this true? If so what sort of discounts can be achieved? We have 3 "car" type vehicles and 1 American RV and I would love to put them all on one policy so that it would hopefully work out more cost effective, after all we can only drive 2 out of 4 vehicles at any one time :)
I wonder if anyone has experience of this type of policy, I seem to remember someone offering it?
TIA

Its a matter of asking all of them, they can charge different amounts depending on the area, age and many other things.
MB insurance is cheap for me, and Saga that should be cheap is double the price

Hi,

Also not sure about 'MB sympathetic' - the car is only one variable amongst a whole host of loadings and discounts so what's good for one might be useless for another, and for wholly unfathomable reasons.

Always worth running your details thru confused.com and other comparison sites.
Fwiw, for several years' renewals, I've pretty much followed all the steps advised on www.moneysavingexpert.com. So, as well as using a number of comparison sites (links from moneysavingexpert.com, although I've stopped bothering with confused.com as I've never had a competitive quote from it :( ), I also check the lower quotes with moneysavingexpert's cashback sites cross-reference. For instance, this year, this latter step got me £40 cashback for going for a quote only £6 more expensive than the cheapest one. :)

I would love to put them all on one policy
For reasons I've never been able to understand, despite many years in and around the British motor insurance industry, while 'rider' policies for motorcyclists are common, the equivalent 'driver' policies are as common as rocking-horse droppings. Only company I've seen advertise anything like 'em is http://www.primoplc.com/.

Hth.

For single car, if you have full NCD, I found e-sure very good, but they all play leapfrog every year.

don't just renew, often the renewal is higher than the same company quotes online. I'd try moneysupermarket.com as that checks a lot - always knocked a good £50 to £100 off the renewal quote fo me.

Also, if your renewal is higher than your company appears on moneysupermarket.com they may say that the low rate is only available for new customers and so you cannot have it (a typical con). In my case renewal was £320 swift cover, yet swiftcover through moneysupermarket was £240. Therefore I just instructed them not to renew the policy and immediately bought the policy off them online again at the lower price!

MB have their "own" but it's simply Norwich Union in another name, and I've heard far too many horror stories about NU.

I tried them when I first got my MB and they were way out on price. If I recall correctly they still only offer a standard 1.2 supermini courtesy car, when you would have though a key benefit might be the guaranteed supply of a Mercedes in the event of an accident.

I'm using Frizzell, with a small discount due to CSMA (wife is civil servant) or you could go directly to Liverpool Victoria if you don't have any connection to enable you to use Frizzell. What Car's insurance is also with them.
They're not the very cheapest but have processed an easy claim, when someone ran into the back of wifey's car, with no drama and they waived the excess which I didn't expect especially as I chose the repairer (thought I'd have to pay it and reclaim). On my Merc they confirmed in writing that would cover the full value of COMAND is it was nicked (some other companies have limits of £500-£1000).

However I will say Frizzell/LV pricing is all over the place - some people I've recommended have got good pricing, others find them way more expensive.

Just renewed mine. I've stopped being loyal and shop around every time. Oddly,confised.com was way more expensive than money supermarket. It's so touchy - I tried different options and got wildly differing results. E.g. Got a good quote, but realised I'd under stated my mileage so went back through and changed 10k to 20k. Suddenly the firm that was #1 was #10 and someone else was better. At one point I was gioing to sign up with LV, then one small tweak and they were expensive again.
Just goes to prove that there is no such thing as cheaper insurer - only a cheapest today for you and your specific circumstances. After almost half a day of searching and adjusting, I ended up with an acceptable quote.

Just took out a policy with Swiftcover.com.I've used them before & had no problems but this time when I looked at the docs(it's all online)my car is a CLK280 CDI Sport.
Rang them & the girl said it was the nearest thing they had on their system. She is talking to the underwriters about it and is going to get back to me.I didn't think they made a 280 oil burner?
