If I want to remove the MB optioned handsfree car kit from my 1996 C280, will there be evidence (ie, holes and such) of its existance?

I like the concept, especially if I could replace the current Nokia cradle for an iPhone equivelent (which I think is not available for this model year) - A modern bluetooth set-up seems an easier option.

Thanks in advance,
MikeE

MB Optioned? Doubtful. I didn't think MB did car kits in those days, aside from the fully installed variety in the S class anyway.
More likely you have a standard Nokia car kit which is easily swapped for the CK7W nokia bluetooth kit. Whether it will leave a hole will depend on how it was attached by the fitter. Most do, though when I had one put in my 202 I had them use a non drill bracket.
If holes are left there are folk out there these days that can do an invisble repair for £30 or so.

I just had to have a look (curiosity) and there were phone kits even as far back as the 124, just looking at the faults for Ctel and D networks, the first cradle as we know it for the 202/210 as of 01-09-95

Well it's out and you'd never know it was ever there... no marks, holes or scuffs.

I had a stereo fitted yesterday and whilst in there they did me a favour and removed the complete phone kit.

I put an iPod friendly Alpine in and I'm going to add the bluetooth adaptor (when I can find one, as they're a little scarce) to care care of the handsfree.
