MB R230 350 SL 2008 ignition Key Can Not be Removed

Morning all, first question, can anybody help.
The key in my newly acquired 2008 R230 350 SL works fine but can not be removed. Key turns as normal, gear selector parks cleanly with associated lock sounds But key can not be removed.
Buttons on fob while in ignition are inoperative. Spare key fob buttons also inoperative while No 1 key stuck in ignition. Any ideas?
She is still being used as normal. in fact just back from a wonderful few days driving on Highland Roads, even had the roof down In January. Pleased each morning to find my car still parked where I had left it.
Any help appreciated.

Id be giving it a thump in the area where the key is whilst trying to move it.
No way would i be leaving keys in a car, unless i lived somwhere very remote.

I would not leave the key intact in the ignition. You can remove the important bits rather than take the risk. Remove as if renewing the battery.

Mine has refused to move from the ignition if it's been left in gear. i.e. not been moved to P.
Maybe yours thinks it's in D.

If you have access to star or a decent code reader look at the transmission Luce data to see which gear it thinks it's in when in P.
