Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience of MB dealers in Ayrshire? I know there is MB Ayr and Glen Henderson, but does anyone actually have any experience dealing with them? Are there any other specialists nearby, or even further afield?

Any help welcome,

Regards,

Whammer007

Hi whammer.
I use a garage in Busby (southside Glasgow) Mainly Mercs 0141 644 4190. The owner is Brian Melville. Have used them many times and can't fault the quality of service.
Also there is Hart Motors in Clydebank (merc specialist) My car was recently sent there for repair from the company I bought it from and found them excellent.
I would however go back to Mainly Mercs and will do so soon to change ATF fluid.
regards.

It's a bit further afield for you...but we use Carluke MOT Centre, in Carluke...funnily enough! Mercedes Specialist, the owner is Alan, (cant remember his second name), fully trained Merc mechanic.Cant fault the service and price. Would'nt hesitate to recomend him.

Merparts in Port Glasgow is the place to go - they are the official technical advisors to the Mecedes-Benz Club and are spot on .

hi whammer, i have dealt with both, mr henderson - well as with most people that have dealt with him you don't tend to continue to do so! merc of ayr i thoroughly recommend - have nothing but praise for the service dept. check out reply to lpg conversion in fuel trans forum. if you wish to use indie t.g. o'neill in glasgow is excellent, my only problem is getting the time to get there, so unfortunately no longer use. try rfm in moorfield ind. est. kilmarnock excellent service as well, i use them for the motorhome and mot'ing cars
cheers

Thanks for the replies,

I actually passed Merparts a couple of weeks ago while on a jolly on my bike, may go back and check it out.
I have had dealings with Glen Henderson before, and they do get a bit of a bad reputation. My car was serviced there from new, that's the only reason I had for taking it there.
Although it is flagging up a B service it won't need the full shebang as I have already replaced the front/rears pads and rear discs, I'll also probably do some/most of the consumables. I was really after someone to cast an expert eye over it to advise me of any specific potential problems. I used to have access to a workshop, but sadly this is no longer the case.

Regards,

Col

Just got my car back from Merparts (Port Glasgow) on Saturday where it received a B service and new front pads. I can thoroughly recommend these guys and would have no hesitation in using them again.

Cheers

strange how this post has resurfaced, and how things change! ayr mercedes were great with my w210, unfortunately when i bought a w203 from them their attitude was totally different. they couldn't find out the problem and dismissed it. glen henderson on the other hand were wonderful and eventually diagnosed the problem though it took mercedes technicians at mk to find it and sort it. the attitude at glen hendersons has completely changed, thankfully for the better.
oh and by the way i would under no circumstances buy from, nor take a car for servicing to, ayr mercedes, manager a complete !!!!!!! no managerial skills whatsoever.

Indeed !

I have used Glen Henderson's parts department a few times and found them helpful and knowledgeable . They seem to carry a fair amount of 'new old stock' parts for older models - when I urgently needed a water pump for one of my 190's and none of the dealerships had it in stock , GH did and also gave me a good discount on it ! It does not matter whether I am spending a couple of hundred or a few pence on parts - they are always friendly and helpful .

I can also endorse Ian at HK Autotec , only been there once but found them friendly , knowledgeable and helpful .

It seems there is lots of choice around here for looking after your Mercedes !
