Hi. I am looking for some help to answer some questions shop gave me regarding my air conditioning system in this 88 560sl.

I recently took car to a garage that was recommended by a buddy of mine to get AC unit on my car repaired. The unit was completely DEAD! They replaced evaporator and all belts in the car and charged up system. Cost was a little over 1800 bucks. WOW!!! Price you pay owning a car like this I guess. Anyways the car got repaired, but I expected the AIR to be really cold since it is on the old R12 system. I use to own a VW Corrado with the same system and it was like ice at times. I phone the guy who repaired it and told me there are senors in the car that would gauge outside temp and cool passengar cab accordingly. So living in So. Cal I tested his theory and result was not true. Does anyone out there know how this system works? I am planning on taking the car back to him, so he can make it right. But before I do I want to get some STRAIGHT answers. And what better place, but the MBZ owners forum!

Thanks you all!

I don't have air con on ours

but I have read your compatriots griping about the not so cool performance of 107 air conditioning at sl107.com. Pay them a visit, as they can obviously direct you to local solutions in the US.
You are of course very welcome here, so welcome aboard.
