Hi all MBOs.
My name is Adam, a kind caring guy that has a solid relationship with Matilda. Matilda is a 2002 CLK230. I have owned her for the last couple of years and I love driving the car, and she has been my main mode of transport for throughout the duration.
I have had some issues with her, but has been nothing I could not sort out. The worst of the problems I have had is the ignition key. The problem being that when the car has been driven and parked up, I would put the car into park but, the barrel would not release the key. I searched for ages trying to find out the reason why it wouldn't let me have the key.
I finally found the problem by shear accident. It turned out to be a broken park-cable mount at the shifter end. From my previous inspection of the plunger at the shifter, it looked normal and as it should be. But, when I was installing a Bluetooth module for my phone, the plunger seemed very loose. It actually slid out from its location.
So, I had two options. I either dismantle the shifter, the mount and replace it, or I would have to repair by using a hand manufactured mount to fix the issue. I chose the latter. Now, she works as good as an original mount. Yay.
Any hoo, Matilda is not my only CLK230. I actually have 2, Beatrice is another that needs some attention, or I'm just going to use the second as spare parts. It seems ashame to use her in that way because she has very very low milage. Only 65k on the clock for a 2001 CLK230. I've been thinking of selling her, not sure yet.
That's me, they're my pride and joy, and would never have anything else. Great cars and not as expensive as many have been made to believe.
Happy driving!!!
