Hi Guys plz be king as im new to this forum and would appreciate any help given.
My friend and i reciently bought a 95(M) merc c180 for us to fix up to use
the past couple of weeks the battery keeps dying even though it is a new batt, then all of a sudden the aftermarket cd player wont power up,the electric sunroof and windows continue to work even though the key is removed, the speedo has stopped working (rev counter and rest of dash still work), the interiour light stopped working and the indicators are working intermitedly(somtimes the work and sometimes they dont, abs and srs lights on constant.

I kind of thought a earth problem for most of it anyway but is there any common places that it can break ect that would affect these systems.
if anyone can help with any of these issues plz help

Sounds like you have a constant drain and your alternator is either not coping or not working. Suggest that there are major issues which are unlikely to be resolved without being present on the spot with some serious testing equipment.

Well you do need an ammeter to put in series with the battery to find what is causing the drain to start with

Disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator, 10 min job if that, remove the brush pack on the alternator. There will be a Bosch part number on the back of the brush pack. Find a local Bosch service center and give them that number they will give a price roughly of 330 for a new brush pack.
Fit it and refit the alternator and most of your electrical problems will go away.

Well they are not going to solve it without a test meter, to confirm that the alternator is faulty just measure across the battery with the engine running and there should be 13.8v and 12.5 when off, it saves an awful lot of work

Hi,
Theres nothing wrong with your windows and roof working if one of your front doors was open when you tried to use them, courtesy system.
