Hello,

I am now the proud owner of a mercedes...........

I have been getting erratic idling and struggle to start and am putting it down to running very short of petorl.

Step 1. for me is change the Petrol filter. Can anybody help me identify where this is, I have trailed through 15 pages of threads and haven't been able to identify where this is.

I have idenified a little somthing in the fuel line just behind the exhaust pipe and am "assuming" that this is the petrol pump as it has 2 electric looking wires coming out.

Any advice......................much apreciated

it will be just in front of the rear wheels under what would be the rear seats, its housed under a black plastic cover. I think its on the o/s.

Hello,

Good advice, a dirty bottom hid the fact that this little cover exsisted.

uncoverd 3 devices, assumption that there is a second pump (as an estate) and the the grail that is the filter, along with another................... assuming that this will be some sort of pressure device thing.

Thanks for your help, i'm looking forward to crawling under there tomorrow and hopefully resolving my issues....................

If you have 2 pumps, take the live wire off one of them and see if the car runs, then try the same with the other one, then you will know that they both work
