Merc 190 Auto is Stalling... - 190 Merc stalls when coasting

Hi Everyone

I'm new here, and i was wondering if someone could help me with this problem.
My 190 Merc stalls when coasting or slowing down to a stop. If i shift it into nuetral, it starts right up again.

What could possibly be wrong???

All suggestions or comments gratefully recieved.

you could try the search facilty of this website by pressing the search tab and entering 'stalling engine'-you may find someone has had a similar problem to yours and the answers may be there .

Thanks for the suggestion Sunil.
I had a look and It looks like the KE unit is ultimately where the problem will be.
I was able to gleen this information from Andy on this site, whom i happen to know personally!!!!!!

I've had my merc comin up to 4 years now.
Any time i had a big problem with the car, Andy Gayles has really been a refreshing change from all of those cowboy outfits who claim to be merc specialists, but really are not.
Never had any complaints on anything Andy and his team have done. top marks.

I was gonna go see him about this problem anyway, so if your readin Andy, how about a discount for the free plug and recommendation??

I have the same issue....but the carb was stipped the float and diaphragm checked but it still does it, and stalls if I stop in traffic in D for a few minutes.......when in N it is fine and revs upagain...it is well annoying had 2 reliable mechanics check it out out and still no joy...I would be grateful if you could give me any tips or the fix

Yes, it is ****** annoying isnt it.
Your symptoms seem a little different to mine, in that mine only stalls as i am slowing down or braking, not whilst stuck in traffic.

I'm taking in to andy gayle on friday, it seems most likely that its a electrical problem in the KE unit(whatever that is!!)

something about the voltages are not correct....

anyway, hopefully i'll have more info after friday

KE Unit is short for the Bosch K Jetronic mechanical fuel injection system.....bit of a mouthful i know!

I took it to the mechanic, and he looked at the KE unti. the problem was not there.

Then he replaced the distributor and gave it an engine tune, and gave it back to me.

Whereas before, the car was stallin without fail, at least once on every journey i made, regardless of distance,
after the changes, i have had the car a week and it hasnt stalled once.
