Merc 190 manual gearbox

Hello,

Ive had a 190 auto for a while now and its top but now my mate is thinking of getting a manual version. I heard the manual gearbox on the 190 is crap and unreliable, is this true? I find it hard to think merc would put such rubbish on an otherwise bullet proof car.

Has anyone got any thoughts/experience/knowledge of the 190 manual box?

The manual is perfectly reliable but its not a thing of joy - the action is long throw and pretty sloppy compared with say a Japanese shift.

190 manual gearboxes are bullet proof,dont know anyone who has had any problems with them.....If you fit new bushes to the gearshift they should last the life of the car...
