Merc 190E How do I open the fuel cap!

Hi I have just bought my first Mercedes which is a 190E but how the hell do I open the fuel cap to put petrol in the tank.

I have looked right through the handbook but I just cannot find any reference to this at all.


Urgent please I'm running low on fuel

it should release when the doors are unlocked.....

if it doesn't there will be a manual release inside the boot - look for a plunger located behind the fuel filler.

well, at least that's how it works on our W124

Re opening fuel filler cap I'm not quite sure what you mean?

When you say the fuel filler cap opens when the car is unlocked I'm not quite sure what you mean?

There is a flap over the filler cap and I cannot see how to get it open

just push the front edge of the flap inwards and the rear will swing outwards. - does that make sense?

Thank you very much, you've solved the problem!

I was thinking it would spring open when you pushed a button or something like that, I didn't realise that it had a sort of rocker action
