They also wish to change the charcoal filter+brake fluid due to age of car--very expensive --is it necessary to change charcoal filter/brake fluid--car always serviced by merc dealer
Can someone advice please--thanks---

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 to 3 years. It's hygroscopic and the water it absorbs severely reduces safety and damages brake components.

If your not happy with the price take it elsewhere and use non genuine parts. if your at MB they will go by the book.
