I am looking to buy a mercedes 450 slc (or even a 380 slc) and wanted to know what to really look out for. Further, if you own one of these, what are they like on a daily basis ?
From a practical point of view the 380 is easier to obtain parts for.
When looking at the car check the top of the wings by the A post, some have been known to corode there.
Also beware the side vent (1/4 Window). If the paint on the fins contained within is peeling or scruffy this is a major expense!
Otherwise just do the usual, despite what I have said so far, they are an extremely good car.
If you check through past pages of this forum. You will find plenty on what to look for when purchasing an SL, The same will go for SLC, what David has to say is also relevent. Take a little time looking and you will find what you are looking for.
