Hi - I'm in the process of buying a 2001 C230 Sport Coupe Evo Panoramic AMG.
I have been told by an AA man that I know that in general Mercs have problems with their electricals - mainly the immobiliser keys or ignition barrels and the auto gearboxes.
Is there any truth in this and are there any other problems I should watch out for?

Also - upon test driving the car it pulled slightly to the right. We inspected the brakes and found the right hand front to be more worn than the rest, which indicated that the brake might be binding slightly on that side and stated this to the dealer - he told me that on the 17inch wheels the car does pull slightly to the right anyway - I don't believe him and want him to check and change the brakes before completing my purchase. It comes with a 12 month warrantee which should cover any problem anyway.
Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?

Thanks in advance!

There are no more problems on these cars than any others, key go wrong, but then so do other makes, foe the best part most do not have problems.

The size of the wheels does not affect any pulling on the steering

Before buying mine I researched weak spots (202's in particular) - neither of these was highlighted.

Possibly because of the fact the electornic keys are one time programmable a key failure will almost certainly result in the car needing to be recovered, so the AA man might have seen a few of these (especially in comparision to other makes with traditional keys).

My impression was that the electronic gearboxes were supposed to be more reliable that the older vacumm ones.
