I said I would post when I had the solution to the cutting out problem that I was having with my 190E. After taking the car to the local independent specialist on several occasions I finally contacted Andy Gayle in Smethwick . I can only say I wish that I had done so earlier. They diagnosed a faulty/damaged air flow meter. After fitting a new air flow meter (not cheap but there we are) they made the necessary adjustment to the fuel injection system and Bobs your mothers brother as they say. I have driven the car approx 1000 mile since the work was completed & there is no sign of recurrence, needless to say I am delighted the car now drives like new, fuel consumption has improved and I am now fully enjoying the Mercedes experience. I would recommend anyone with similar problems to give Andy Gayle a try. I would be happy to provide anyone with contact details if they PM me.

190 E Auto Cuttingout Your solution?

Opinion please. Was replacing the airflow meter the whole answer? Or did some other things that you had done contribute to the solution. Also is it really now fixed? My car will run for a week, then cut out. Sometimes more than once on even a short journey.
:?:
Thanks

Caroline,

I think that the answer is probably yes, although a second hand one could be sourced given time. My experience was similar to your own. on some occasions it was really bad -often in traffic & then the problem would not reoccur for a while.

Thanks it's just that my car is going back to the garage tomorrow & I don't want to waste more good money, after bad if it's not going to solve the problem. As my car is a 1991 190 E Auto even though it's low mileage it's not worth spending a fortune on. :!:
