Bought my sl 18 months ago from Yorkshire. I knew it had issues because it was under priced by £2000
Seller made out it was a cat D because of replacement engine. Since having the car i have had to replace the Air conditioning pump, Radiator, Battery,
Central locking pump, and all tyres. Tyre's only because they were cheap budget ones. just a couple of issues left to sort out. One being the alarm, which makes no sound.
But every so often the lights start flashing. Which explains the degraded battery. Also when i now use remote to open the doors, the petrol flap also springs open.
Has anyone else had this sort of thing happening?
Always wanted an sl since i was a child. But wish i hadn't picked one with so many issues. But she drives like a dream. And has only done 90,000 miles.
10,000 of that is myself enjoying the top down in summer. I am determined to get this car back to pristine condition. IMG_2015.JPG IMG_2014.JPG IMG_2022.JPG

Sounds like the latch for the fuel flap is faulty. Normally a pin operates which provides the locking but the latch is responsible for keeping the fuel flap shut. Does the fuel flap operate normally otherwise? I.e push to open?

Hi, No it used to up until about 2 weeks ago. Then suddenly it started popping open on unlock. Then wouldn't stay in unless i opened the boot and manually push the holding pin back in place

Fuel flap latch is either worn or broken then.

Id be considering the alarm control module under one of the front arches (normally) for the alarm related problems.

btw stick to genuine parts. mercs dont like anything else.
