Hi All

On my way home from work today a pheasant flew up in front of my car and I unfortunately hit it. When I got home I checked the damage and all I could see was that the front emblem has fallen off.

Could anyone determine from the attached image if there is any further damage? Where could I get a replacement?

Could anyone also identify the part that is sitting behind the emblem? Could this be damaged?

Many thanks for your help

Harry

That part is the radar module. Its the device that feeds that annoying red light when you get too close to the car in front. The fitting for the badge looks to be completely undamaged, so a new part will just pop into place, rotate slightly and lock in. It isn’t the most positive fixing in the world. Mercedes for the part.

WHS.

Just needs a replacement eblem by the looks of it which will clip into the recess, if you go back to the scene of the crime you might find it on the floor and it may not be damaged for re-use.

What was the outcome of the pheasant, roasted or toasted!

Thank you both for your reply.

Mercedes in my home town are closed for the foreseeable future.

There are a couple of badges available on eBay and I given the link below. Is it possible to purchase one of these? Will it need to be programmed?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OEM-Mercedes-A-Class-W177-Distronic-Base-Plate-Star-Heated-0008880000/202868598946?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160727114228&meid=8f56c1fa44094993905b91dedb8ebcb1&pid=100290&rk=2&rkt=4&sd=274006705456&itm=202868598946&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2060778&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

Is there any way to order the part direct from Mercedes online?

Harry
That will work Harry, it doesn’t look like the rest of your distronic system has damage . You could also try MB Grangemouth on 01324 686002, not sure if they are open currently or not, but they are forum sponsors and give us a discount

WHS above. Get one form a dealers or wait. Although the one in the ebay link looks ok are you certain its the right part number.

With some things like this on ebay its easy to get stung on high prices and not getting the correct part.

Hi All

Thank you everyone for your help so far.

All Mercedes garages are closed until after the lockdown and cannot supply me the part.

Does anyone know how to identify the part number of the badge so I can source myself?
