Had the thing a week now and things just ain't right.
!, The telephone 'Make Call' button doesn't work but the 'Hang Up' button works.
2, The interior light won't go on automatic (open the doors, light don't come on) All bulbs work.
3, More seriously when I get in the car there is no cranking of the engine, just won't start, I take the key out re-insert it several time and it'll start., battery is well and truly charged, I've checked.
4, The Auto Stop & Go is temperamental, nice day today, engine at optimum temperature and it
came on twice.
I've read of MB's reliability issues with electrics.
Now I see it requires an AGM type battery but cannot see what type, just a Lion battery, like this.

According to Lion their AGM96 should be yellow, I wonder if the battery is incorrect.

When the car won't start. Can you check to see if you can hear the steering lock release?

Can you turn the key all the way when it won't start?

Thanks for your reply sir. Key turns fully to the right, steering lock is released. Just been out it started twice on the button the third time a small hesitation and it started.

Could be starter motor or starter relay or intermittent power in the front fuse box. I would check all of those first. Itermittent ones are a pain though.

Gentlemen, I think I've found the problem. A Merc A-Class specialist in London whom I believe is a member here.
This is exactly what my car does.

If you suspect the starter, you can measure for 12v on the starter solenoid wire when turning the key during a no start. Have done a few of both!

Yup, had my starter motor replaced by Wayne Gates three years ago.
If you don't mind me asking GLK what was the price?
My car is at the place I bought it for starter motor replacement.

The OEM starter motor was £172 incl. VAT, plus 3 hours labour ...
Thank you GLK, that seems quite reasonable.
The quote I got was £421, but no way was I sinking that into a car that has just been purchased.
The guys were good though, they accepted back and loaned me a courtesy car.
