Hi All,

I've got a Mercedes A150 manual and a couple of days ago I was driving and the brake pad warning light came on the dash so i know the pads are gonna need doing soon however today, when i was turning around in a narrow street i don't what happened but literally loads of warning lights started flashing up on the dash. There was a alternator warning light and battery warning light that came on but they went away after i turned the car on and off. But the ABS warning light and brake pad wear light are still on, does anyone have any idea what could cause this happen suddenly?

I measured the battery voltage and just with the key inserted it reads about 11.8 to 12 so i think the battery is ok and i also checked the terminals and they seem fine too so am really confused as to what's going?

Also can anyone recommend a good place to get a replacement set of brake pads please?

12.6 is a good resting voltage for a battery. 11.8-12 is too low.

yes when i measured the battery when the car was off and the key in the ignition it was reading between 11.8 to 12 and then i measured it again after switching it on and it was reading up to 13 so i thought that was ok? Do you think a faulty battery would cause all the warning lights to come on the dash? Could it be related to the brake pad wear warning light that came a few days before this happened?

P.S I forgot to mention when warning lights were coming on steering became very heavy, it was like the car power steering anymore either?

>14v is what you want when it’s running.

Brake wear light is unlikely to be related

The warning lights could be related to a bad battery. I’d charge or replace the battery then get the codes read and take it from there.

Brake pads will need changing ~500miles depending upon usage. Find a good Mercedes indie and get them to check the codes and do the brakes.

OK thanks for the info, i want to try first the battery and then go from there so is it possible for you to tell me what's the ideal voltage I should be looking for when the cars off just with the key in the ignition and what should it read when the car is on and idling?

Also what's the best way to charge the battery?

Thanks

When key inserted but engine not running your looking for 12.4 to 12.6 volts ideally, anything below 12.1 and you get all sorts of weird problems. When the engine is running you should see 14.1v

heavy steering with ABS light more often than not is an ABS/speed sensor. get the codes read to identify.
Get them both changes across the axle as the other will fail soon too and use genuine.
