Hi All,

I am new here... I am a member if the Mercedes-Benz Club of South Africa.

I must compliment on this site - really nice! :)

I have a quick question... I am looking to purchase a 1997 Mercedes-Benz C250 Turbodiesel. The car has 226 000 km on the clock with a full service history with Mercedes-Benz.

Would it be worth my while buying this car? I have heard from other members in the SA club that these cars can do up to 600 000 km withouth any hassle if you take good care of them. Some pointers on looking for a good one would be appreciated!

Also, what kind of mileage could I expect to get on a tank of diesel?

Your input will be greatly appreciated... :D

Kind Regards,

Hi Wayne

I have one of these mine is a 1998 C250TD <a class=l href=http://webmaxsearch.com?qq=auto onmouseover="return (window.status='auto');" onmouseout="window.status='';">auto</a> Sport with 142000 miles. I have had this 3 years, no problems.
Watch out for rust issues around wheel arches, boot lid and doors but not as bad as the W210 E class.
I get 400 miles on tank of fuel on combined driving but admitedly I go through a toll tunnel every day which means delays, otherwise would get more.
I'm happy with this car no problems. Just make sure you get <a class=l href=http://webmaxsearch.com?qq=auto onmouseover="return (window.status='auto');" onmouseout="window.status='';">auto</a> not manual as far better

Could anyone please give me an indication on mileage on a tank of diesel?

Guys, I just want to check.... Are we talking UK or US gallon?

Being in South Africa, we do everything in litres... :D

In case you don't know there are 4.54 litres to 1 UK Gallon.
I imagine this must be the same for a US Gallon, as after all a Gallon is a Gallon.

As you can see everyone happy with their C250TD.....go for it and enjoy
