I'm surprised my car has a full history. Under the bonnet is a bit filthy! I spent a good hour or two cleaning oot the engine bay today. The previous owner must have lived under a forrest! Engine bay was crambed with enough twigs and leaves to keep the busiest squirrel busy!

I am surprised! If only they went to as much trouble as Jaguar Dealers; and actually steam cleaned under the hood!

Also the window seals were in a shocking state! and also all wing drains were all blocked. No wonder they rust!

Shame on you Mercedes dealers of Ayr!

The hourly rate is a multiplier for the book times to do a particular job. It includes all other overheads, like the service manager, service reception, and the yts that should wash and prep the car before it goes back to the customer.

Even the ****roen dealer for our wee C3 washes it after a service... Adn there only £70 per hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aye right! I would consider it part of the service, as it is with Jaguar. I hope I haven't made a mistake with MB! Rediculous its part of keeping a car sweet not an extra!

Thanks, I am aware how hourly rates are built up. Does your Citroen delaer clean the engine as per the original request? My MB dealer does 'free' car wash and vac on a Saturday morning, you just need to book it in. Mine is washed and cleaned inside everytime I go to the dealer, they have also occaisionally polished it and blacked the tyres. I've Never had the engine cleaned at MB nor would I want someone steam cleaning my engine and electics.
As for leaves under the bonnet blocking the drain holes I also see this as an owner responsibility.

When I bought my car it had been cleanerd so thoroughly that it looked brand new, even under the bonnet. After a couple of thousand miles it looked like someone had been mud wresteling in the engine bay. Oh, ok that's a slight exageration but it certainly didn't look all clean and sparkly. But then I wouldn't really expect anything else, after all that's where most of the work goes on.

When anything is done on my car at the MB dealer they clean it inside and out. I certainly wouldn't expect them to clean inside the enigine bay and I'd be genuinly surprised if any car company would without explicit instrcution to do so and large wadges of extra cash.

You can spend hours cleaning it if you like, but by the end of next week it'll be just as mucky again, assuming you actually drive the car.

Trust me, there are many more important things to complain about with MB other than cleaning the engine bay.

I always keep the engine bay clean. It makes it easier to spot problems when they occur.

I wouldn't recommend steam cleaning though. A dirty rag works for me, some people use Gunk as well.

Not all Mercedes Benz dealers http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=22746 are scammers.

I thought it was part of motoring to clean you car, check your tyre pressures, oil, water etc. Just as owning a house requires sometimes getting the hover or lawnmower out or do you expect the dealer to do that also??
