I have just been looking at the Mercedes-Benz Configurator and cannot find the Mercedes0Benz SL. Usually, when these things happen, I find it to be down to 'User Error'

All I can pin down is the:

Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster

What am I doing wrong?? I am not a fan of this latest creation and much prefer the SL with the more practical roof design

The hard top SL is no more, only FrankenSL with the rag top will be available in the future :-(

Shock, I'm in shock. I have always wanted to get 'the boss' one of these amazing cars, but hey ho, twas never going to happen, so I guess Mercedes finally accepted that and decided to stop producing this iconic vehicle.

Will well preserved examples of this model perhaps really start holding their price. Oh for a nice SL55AMG

Manufacturers do this when they are about to launch a new model - and yes there is a new four-seater soft top SL about to become available. From previous experience they disable the configurator whilst there is still new or nearly new stock in the system so if you are serious about getting one, I would suggest you speak to your local dealer quickly.

Problem is 4 real seats would blur it with the E class convertible...

Yep - I believe 2+2 because there is more interior room with the shorter ar$e (AMG GT lookalike) hence the soft top - no room for a roof that does not fold.

I’ll be hanging onto mine for a while yet. Purchased new in 2017 and I still love driving it.

It is nice but I wonder is it is going to keep that “transformer” feel. Roof up and roof down feels like two different cars (coupè and roadster) with the current hard tops. My SLK was the same.

If the new SL is a 2+2 that will be consistent with earlier generations of SLs. They are definitely not 4 seaters, the rear "seats" are for occasional or child use, or storage space. A normal sized adult will not fit.

For a number of years there have been four seater convertibles being offered by this marque, I guess I could always get the boss a Maybach soft top!!

I think the front end of this AMG-GT is butt ugly, just like the front of the new E-class, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

As a youngster I was told cod liver oil tasted nice and yup, it tasted like this AMG-GT looks and note how once again Mercedes-Benz is using the three letters to their maximum advantage... 'AMG'.

Does the convertible AMG-GT have a cloth sunroof?? I guess the more modern electronic closing roofs were 'dumbing down' and making things too easy for the driver

Does the AMG-GT roof open and close mechanically or does Mr Manuel Labour have to get their hands soiled? That is just so 20th century

On the configurator, I could only build a black or dark grey vehicle with the choice of BLACK interior or...... black interior

Agreed, looks ****** awful on the road - it would look a lot better on the track

You make a fair point but......

On the Mercedes-Benz UK site you can now configure your own car and then place the order!! Yes they give a warning about shortage of modules but that's a generic warning, our own car was delayed two or three months.

The daft thing is that when you select the configurator for the AMG-GT, you are confronted by a red coloured vehicle but...

The instant you start that build, you are offered the colours black or grey!! Metallic, solid or designo. All the colours are included in the attached picture. The solid colour is black, the metallics are listed and they offer just ONE designo colour. In defence of the car and the choice of colours, the site only offers the one choice of vehicle, the AMG-GT Night Edition Roadster, but this 'Night Edition' option is available for other models and whilst the choice of colour is limited, it is not this bad!.. E300De AMG-Line Night edition offers your red, white, blue, black, grey, silver and no doubt a few others

From personal experience and NOT gossip on the Internet or a bloke in the pub told me, but from personal experience, if I had purchased my E-class from the main Milton Keynes dealer, I could have had ANY designo colour I wanted?? Just that one, single UK dealer offered that choice, all the rest only offered the colours we see on the Internet site.

You can build your car on the configurator, chose what exterior colour you want, spend a day deciding over the interior colour, a difficult decision as you can choose a black interior or a dazzling....... black interior!! Why did I buy our car from Europe??

Its horrendous! Bland cars to accommodate an increasing lease market.... A dark interior makes for a less expensive return end of term (cleanliness wise) and more suitable re-entry into the market to pander to the ever increasing monotone corporate world...

Rant over... I miss the light interiors....
