can the immobiliser be bypassed on a c180 1996, siemens ignition, damaged the fob button.
This has the lights in the rear view mirror but the alarm module looks like it was added later and badly too.

Hi,
Yes you can bypass the alarm immobiliser cos i have done it several times, the main dealer told me how also the AA have a Tech. manual that gives the same info.
Find the control box which should be mounted next to the ABS brain in the passenger side footwell it involves shorting out of 2 cables going to the control box, but i,m sorry not prepared to post the colours of the cables on the site for obvious reasons.

Drain the fuel rail as water can build up inside it. There is a connection peice at one end.

(they have no tank return)

Injectors?

Coil wiring?

ECU?

Any chance you could pm me the colour of the two cables? I have a 1997 c250 with one key and have just been informed of the price of a new "spare".

Hi,
It is different for a diesel as apparently the immobilisation is done through a 'coded fuel valve'
If you bypass your immobiliser your insurance will be void for theft cover as your premium is based on the fact that these cars came with a Thatcham Approved Alarm System from new.
Whats the problem? your key fob U/S?
There is a thread in the DIY section on repairing this type of fob.
If you are a member of the AA, don,t worry as they can bypass the immobiliser mine was done by the AA and remained bypassed till i fixed the alarm system.

Hi,
Just reread your post is your key like the one in the link below?
If it is disregard the above post as this was for early vehicles, with the Scorpion Systems fitted from new.

Do not be tempted to buy a second hand key if yours are like this, as it will not be able to be programmed for your car.
The immobiliser on this age/type of vehicle is programmed to your specific car and would be very expensive to bypass if at all possible.
Just bought one for my C43 cost me £148 including the key blade. :(

Thanks for the replys, mine is a single button remote with a flip out key at the side. The one key I have is working fine, but I begrudge the £150+vat price I have been quoted, I tried writing to the previous owners of my car but no joy there. I just want to know what to do in an emegency to bypass my immobiliser and ue the key only. I have rac cover but I am a person who likes to know what to do myself if you know what I mean?

Try another dealer mate my c230k was less than a hundred which is the same as you described, i take it you got a price for the key by quoting your vin number because if you didnt it sounds like they have given you the price for a later key type.

Ahhh thats why then mate the most common key is the one they quoted for (the same as in the e-bay link in my previous post) yours should less than a £100 but not much less.

That's not so bad I guess. Is there no way of bypassing or linking out the immobiliser on my model then? Thus saving me the £100? I bought a key from the bay and of course found it does the central locking but not the ignition. So was thinking in an emergency I could use that and bypass the immobiliser...

You won't get instructions off here for bypassing security. We don't know you and we don't know if you're the owner of the car.

This happened to me and I had to replace the batteries in the key fob. I think there were two CR2025 batteries. The red and green mirror flashing stopped and car started OK after that. I think it's simply an indicator to let you know that the batteries are on their way out.

Its always good to determine or indicate if you know, what happened prior to the non start problem. In our case, my dad's 1996 c220 W202 caught fire in the engine bay. Car got towed backed home and stood for more than a year. Also thought it was the immobiliser.. And maybe car was immobilised by the problem but it was just the OVP Relay. Simply replaced it and problem was solved. Note, dont think of just replacing the fuse, just replace the OVP Relay (in the engine bay) or swap it out with one from a running or donor car.
