Hi All,

So it turns out that the DPF on my car being 400% was only the symptom of a P2279 Intake Air System Leak.

Once I cleared the DPF and thought everything was fixed, the car still didn't feel right, it just didn't have the power on the motorway, it wasn't able to gain speed like it should do, I could feel my foot all the way down and the car wasn't getting a move on.

Also when on a slight incline (which is normal for the M65, it's up and down most of it), it would slow down when it had to go up a slight incline.

What could be the issue - i've heard this is common issue with these OM651 engines and a pipe needs replacing, could someone please send a link to the pipe I need to replace on ebay?

Remove and check all boost hoses. Any of them can fail and can be hard to spot.

Which ones are the boost hoses? I'm good with computers but not so much with cars!

Is it the intercooler pipes? Thats what ebay seems to bring up. Do you happen to have WIS page/screenshot of the pipes?

Also after the P2279 Code I also got a P0229 tubercharger / supercharger underboost error code.

Am I ok driving the car like this? Or am I doing serious damage to it?

You are clogging you DPF if there is a leak in boost lines. Follow hoses coming from turbo (yea they go 'via' intercooler) to engine block.

They are the big fat pipes from turbo to intercooler and intercooler to manifold.
Remove to check as the splits can be hard to see.

Big hot thing on the side of the motor with two big fat rubber hoses attached on the silver bit and exhaust off the rusty bit. ;)

Ok I've got the car booked in for Tuesday or Wednesday, but I've had a look under the bonnet to see if I can spot anything and on the left I can see some oil leak slightly

This is on the other (right side) of the engine, could see some small deposits of oil

Also I've cleared the check engine light and doesn't come on straight away, but I can feel that the car doesn't have power, only after a little while of driving around 30 miles or so it comes up when I put my foot down

Picture number 3 looks like a split boost pipe spraying oil everywhere.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I have a rough idea of what a turbocharger does but I wouldn’t have a clue about where to find it on my car! :( I definitely leave the oily bits to the experts.

I have got the opposite problem. Just bought a V220d (65plate), same engine as yours and found out that a boost pipe was split. Normally it's the one at the bottom that goes (very common) but mine was a 5hr job, very hard to get to. As a result of driving round with it I've now got a blocked DPF (ylw warning light on dash). Will it clear by itself or will it have to be changed? How did you clean yours?

I've got a cheap 15 quid j2534 cable and xentry virtual machine so can force a regen, that's the easy bit imo. If you're close I can do it for you.

Hoping mine is just this burst pipe that's visible and not the one that's hard to get to!

Many thanks, very kind. I'm doing a run to the coast today so will see if it regen by itself (in theory it should). I'm in Essex BTW.

I'm in Blackburn, Lancs so way too far.

No don't do that, it won't regen by itself! You'll just make the problem worse. Once the DPF fill level goes above 200% only a forced regen can fix that. That's the only way to get the light to go off. Take it to someone to force the regen.

Best £15 I spent was getting a pass thru cable, the honda/toyota ones are not so good as they can't read all the ECUs for some reason.

If you really do want to clean the DPF then this guy shows it quite well:

I was going to follow this guide and clean mine, until I realised DPF fill is only a symptom not the cause.

Great, I'll look into that. I've been looking at the icarsoft MB v2.0 which seem very straight forward but not sure weather to take the plunge. My local indy garage has already re-set the warning light and thought a good run might regen it, now I'm thinking it might be a good idea to get something to read the codes and be able to reset myself. Not got a laptop so the icarsoft looks like a good option.

Sorry to hijack your thread
