I have a Mercedes C240 (1997). When I start the car in the morning if i put the accelerator down too much there is a lack of power but when the engine heats up this stops. On the motorway power keeps dropping off and i have to take my foot off the accelerator then put it down again to get going regardless of whether it is hot or cold. I have had HT leads and fuel pump faults suggested to me but i am not sure. The car has a full service history and this is the first problem i have with it,
any help would be greatly appreciated.

You really need the car hooked up to a Star diagnostics computer to have the fault codes read/analysed in order to pin point what exactly is causing the problem. If I had to guess at your loss of power then likely candidates could be:
- MAS (Mass Air flow Sensor).
- pedal value sensor (Your car's throttle is fly-by-wire, the PVS converts your throttle position into an electrical signal for the ECU, engine management system to control engine revs).
- spark plugs, when were these last changed? Did you know you have 12 and I think they're changed approx every 60k miles.
- fuel injectors.

You really need to know what the fault codes are saying though. Best of luck curing the problem!
